Purpose and scope

The Cloud Engineer will be part of a team responsible for the cloud operations and governance using best practices for cloud deployment or migration of data center applications to the public cloud. The Cloud Engineer will provide support to applications developers, infrastructure and DevOps teams, and end-users. The engineer will participate in the design of automated solutions, process improvement, server provisioning, capacity and performance management, software installations, technical assistance, and server security management.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee cloud infrastructure design and develop detailed architecture models for client environments,
  • Plan for system and application migration(s) to the cloud, adhering to the client’s technical and business requirements.
  • Develop and document technical designs for integration and implementation of new cloud applications and systems.
  • Integrate with non-cloud technologies and third-party vendor products/services.
  • Drive public and hybrid cloud-based, proof-of-concept prototypes that assess the feasibility of solutions and demonstrate to our clients how technology can be leveraged.
  • Identify, analyze and resolve public and hybrid cloud-based issues.
  • Formulate detailed network, storage, and compute design specifications for stable and secure computing operations.
  • Assess emerging technologies, stay abreast of industry trends.
  • Experience with highly available and fault-tolerant enterprise and web-scale software deployments.
  • Work with clients to migrate email from Gmail or on-prem Exchange to Office 365.
  • Introduce and develop automation to aid in automated configuration management and migrations.
  • Handling escalations from internal team as well as clients.
  • Respond to escalations for systems issues as part of an on-call rotation.

Preferred qualifications

  • Passion for customers, cloud and service excellence
  • One or more of the following: Microsoft Azure Solutions Architect, VMWare Certifications (Data Center Virtualization, Cloud Management and Automation, Network Virtualization)

Job requirements

  • Must have at least 3+ years of hands-on experience managing or working in large Cloud environments.
  • Direct experience in Cloud platform technologies such as Microsoft Azure & Amazon AWS.
  • Strong Windows Server and desktop knowledge, including AD DC, GPO, RDS, File servers, Ninja, Powershell and server/application migration.
  • Strong MS 365 knowledge, including MS 365 email, one drive, Sharepoint online, Azure AD, Sentinel, Intune and others.
  • Strong Analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills Must have knowledge of networking.
